Laurel Park School
Laurel Park School is a new school for Palmers Green and Southgate that launched in September 2022, which I am both privileged and honoured to lead. Our most recent Ofsted in November 2024 recognised our school being Good across all areas, noting that ‘Pupils typically live up to the school’s expectations to work hard and allow everyone to learn and achieve their best.’ This is why the school should be the school of choice for our local community.
We are an intentionally small school because our ethos is grounded in knowing all of our students by name. We pride ourselves on building relationships with our young people and developing bespoke approaches to their time with us to foster their individual talents, interests, skills and needs. ‘We are a small school, and we are known and understood as individuals’ (Ofsted 2024- Student Quote). Our small wonderful school also allows students to build great relationships with each other across year groups, which further strengthens our sense of family and community.
Here at Laurel Park School we acknowledge the needs of all our students and will strive not only for academic success but to ensure that we develop the whole child, in order to prepare them for 21st century life. This includes our ‘Trips for All’ programme, which is a structured part of our curriculum that ensures students across an entire year group go on year group trips every term. This is so that all young people have the same opportunities and are not disadvantaged. Our overall curriculum intent is based on four key areas that operate throughout the school:
-
My Curriculum
-
My Character
-
My Culture
-
My Community
The ethos of our school is grounded in our core values of Integrity, Determination, Excellence and Ambition, which permeate throughout everything we do. Our diverse community is one of the strengths of our school, where respect is demonstrated towards everyone regardless of background or culture, culminating in a cultural celebration at the end of every year. We are a school that has classrooms full of happy and polite young people ready to work hard and aim high.
We launched our vocational only Sixth Form in September 2024, as a pathway to support students at Laurel Park and across neighbouring boroughs to develop a work related and industry based learning pathway. This provision has, as Ofsted 2024 said ‘got off to a strong start’ with ‘students demonstrating enthusiasm for their learning and wider opportunities available to them’.
We are innovative and don’t rest on our laurels at Laurel Park School, we Learn, Persevere and Succeed.
Welcome to Laurel Park School.
