How We Teach
Laurel Park has a consistent approach to teaching and learning, based on Rosenshine. We believe in the importance of teacher autonomy and professional judgement, as well as the need to adapt and personalise learning to the needs of individual students and classes.
We also believe that the approaches teachers’ take should be strongly informed by the many years of research evidence into what works in the classroom. In our school, we work as a team, developing each other’s practice to ensure students have a high-quality, impactful and consistent experience at every stage of their education.
At Laurel Park, investment into teacher development is highly prioritised. Staff receive weekly professional development on Wednesday afternoons along with regular developmental drop-ins, bi-annual reviews and supportive peer mentoring.
