LPS Extra offers a diverse range activities designed to enhance students' educational experience and personal growth.

As a school we are committed to offering an extra-curricular programme that covers a wide range of areas of interest.  Our Extra-curricular programme is delivered by in-house staff and a range of external providers.  The clubs are great places for students to make friends across all year groups with the added bonus of having shared areas of interest.   The timetable is published each term and all clubs are free.

School years are not just a time for classroom learning, but also for identifying passions and hobbies. Here at Laurel Park School, we conduct a wide range of school clubs, all of which are aimed at giving our students the best school experience possible. These clubs allow them to follow their passions and develop individual skills and talents.

By taking part in these clubs, our students are able to develop an array of transferable skills, including confidence, imagination, teamwork, coordination, focus, creativity, and determination. Honing these attributes at an early age sets our students up for success not only at school, but also in their adult life.

This is just a small selection of the clubs offered at Laurel Park School, and the list of clubs is often changing based on student interest. Students have input into the clubs on offer, ensuring that the activities remain relevant and engaging. Clubs take place after school and are in addition to the study support provided for all students, with targeted support for Year 11 students to help them achieve their academic goals.

Why join a club?

Young people’s skills start to grow and evolve from an early age, and their time at school plays a significant role in shaping their attributes and personality. By taking part in our after-school clubs, students enhance their social skills and enjoy spending time with other children outside of the classroom. They also develop a range of other attributes, depending on which club they attend.

What is available?

Here's an overview of some of the key clubs and programs available:

  1. Sports Clubs: Students at Laurel Park can participate in various sports activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The school offers clubs for trampolining, football, netball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, and more, encouraging students to stay active and develop their skills in different sports.

  2. Science Ambassadors: This club provides a platform for students to explore scientific concepts beyond the classroom. It includes hands-on experiments, discussions on scientific advancements, and projects that nurture curiosity and a deeper understanding of science.

  3. Debating and Public Speaking: Laurel Park has a dedicated club for students interested in honing their debating and public speaking skills. This club helps students develop critical thinking, persuasive communication, and confidence in presenting their ideas in front of an audience .

  4. STEM Club: The STEM club at Laurel Park focuses on integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through various interactive and engaging activities. This club aims to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields by providing practical and innovative learning experiences

  5. Coding Club: For students interested in technology and programming, the coding club offers opportunities to learn different coding languages, work on software development projects, and understand the basics of computer science. It caters to both beginners and advanced coders.

  6. Social Media Club: This club allows students to explore the impact and management of social media platforms. It includes activities related to content creation, digital marketing, and understanding social media analytics, preparing students for the digital world.
