Where Healthy Meals Fuel Bright Minds!

At Laurel Park School, your health and nutrition comes first! We believe that eating well is about more than staying healthy - it is about powering your potential in and out of the classroom.

We believe there is nothing more important than starting the day off right, which is why we offer free breakfast to all students from 7:50am to 8:10am every day. They can get a freshly toasted bagel and juice or hot chocolate in the winter.

Rather than serving store bought products and sugary snacks at lunchtime, our school meals are homemade on site from fresh ingredients and follow the government guidelines to promote a healthy and balanced diet.

For £3 a day, students will get a hot meal, Yoghurt (or Cake depending on the day), fruit and access to our unlimited salad bar.

We offer different menus throughout the year that are as delicious as it is nutritious to match the changing seasons.

Why are healthy school meals important?

Better Learning with Better Food

Research shows that healthy eating boosts brain power and concentration. We want every student to be well equipped to continue their learning journey!

Nutritious food also helps you stay active and promotes overall well-being.

What we offer:

  • Fresh, Seasonal Ingredients: Our fruits, vegetables and proteins are locally sourced to ensure maximum freshness and taste.

  • Balanced Meals: Every meal is carefully created by our Head Chef; Mr Watts, to provide the right mix of nutrients to keep you focused and energised throughout the day.

  • Student-Approved Menus: We serve healthier versions of all time favourites, from fish and chips to tacos. We are always open to suggestions about what you want to see on the menu!

  • Meatless Mondays: Meatless Mondays can make a big difference in your health and also the health of our planet. It helps reduce our carbon footprint and conserve precious environmental resources.

  • Daily Fresh Salad Bar: Everyday we have an unlimited salad bar that students can go to during lunch in our Bayleaf Restaurant.

Menu Themes

Not only do we create menus based on student feedback and the changing seasons, we also create special themed days based on national events.

Some of our recent themes:
Black History Month:
We offered three meals of traditional caribbean food that was prepared and served in place of the normal menu options so every student could experience a taste of something new

Christmas Lunch:
Our yearly traditional Christmas Lunch where staff and students sit down together to enjoy a traditional Christmas Meal.

Culture Day:
By asking students for suggestions, we created a unique menu for our Culture Day that was inspired by Asian-Style Street Food.

Dessert Days

We have two dessert days a week! These options change along with the rest of our menu. All of our desserts look for healthy substitutions to minimise the sugar intake for our young people. Some of our recent desserts have been:

  • Carrot Cake

  • Cocoa and Banana Cake

  • Beetroot Brownie

  • Coconut and Apricot Flapjack
